Are all Wheel of Fortune machines the same?

25 February 2008

Hi,

My first question is about the Wheel of Fortune video slot at these "Indian Casinos." Are these machine programed differently by the casino themselves or do they come the casino pre-programmed?

I am also finding that the same looking machine may have several variations of pay, play, and programming.

Any advice?

Thanks,
Clay

Dear Clay,

If the Wheel of Fortune video slots are part of wide-area progressive jackpot, then each machine will have the same programming. If the machines do not participate in wide-area jackpot, then different casinos might have ordered different long-term paybacks and hit frequencies for their machines.

I say "might have" because I think casinos may not be able to buy Wheel of Fortune machines, only lease them or get them on a revenue-sharing basis from IGT. Many machines that are based on licensed material are not available for sale from the slot manufacturers.

Most machines have many different payback programs (virtual reel layouts) available for them. It's definitely possible that two machines of the same type might have different programs.

Best of luck in and out of the casinos,
John
