People are addicted to casino gambling

25 August 2008

John,

Wow, I receive your newsletter and read some with awe.. just how dumb you really are and also know the CASINOS are paying you BIG bucks for your "lack of expertise".

I too have played in casinos in my area for years...and I also know how much casinos cut you back once you're a regular......So, IF you have to ask SN why he and the others are still playing..... IT SHOWS YOUR LACK OF EXPERTISE........

IT IS CALLED ADDICTION..... and it stems from the HIGHS we all get when the CASINOS were trying to HOOK US by "letting" us WIN....I have heard it compared to an addiction to drugs.....saying: CASINO"S are like drug dealers "giving" his potential customers a taste (a few times)....before hooking them to a "paying" hit ...every few hours....where the drug gets weaker and weaker so it takes more and more to satify. The "DEALER" gets richer and richer as your go down the tube... DO THEY CARE?... "NO"....

SO, best "EVERYONE".... just STOP..... COLD TURKEY.......... and see how long it would take the "DEALERS" before "THEY"....GOT THE MESSAGE ...

Ever think maybe you are TOO CLOSE to the forest to REALLY SEE the trees? GET REAL.

Jo

Dear Jo,

If you, SN, and the people in SN's group are addicted to casino gambling, then you are beyond my ability to give you any advice. I urge you and SN and SN's friends to get professional help immediately.

Declaring that casinos rig games beyond the built-in house edge and going back to play those games again and again makes no sense. No one is forced to go to the casino. If the reason you and others keep going back is because you're addicted, you must get help before casino gambling takes all of your money and ruins your lives.

Plays, books, movies and casino games wouldn't be any fun without the highs and lows. The random rewards we get when we play casino games are compelling incentives to keep us playing and to get us to come back to the casino to try our luck again. Sure, we all get caught up, at one time or another, in the belief that a machine is due or that we're due for a hot streak. There's no way to predict what the results of the next spin or the next casino visit will be. The big hit could be right around the corner.

But when our intellect can't control our emotions and we find ourselves back in the casinos even though we believe in grand conspiracy theories that the casinos are controlling the machines and manipulating us, casino gambling is no longer a game and it's time to get professional help. The need for help is even more pressing if we can't afford the money we're losing in the casinos.

Jo, I wish you could have made this comment to me in person. I can't tell whether there's a touch of hyperbole in your comments. Casino gambling can be addictive. If you believe you're hooked and you can't stop playing, please get help.

I'm sure you've heard this old joke: A man walks into a doctor's office. "Doc," he says, "it hurts when I raise my arm." The doctor says, "Stop raising your arm."

Here's my reply to everyone who believes casinos control machines: If you believe the machines are manipulated so that you can't win, then stop playing the machines. If you can't stop playing them, see a professional who can help you to stop playing the machines.
