The Slot Expert's Guide to Winning at Slots and Video Poker1 May 2000
You can hear me give my slot and video poker tips live on The Good Times Show, hosted by Rudi Schiffer with Frank Scoblete, which is broadcast live from Memphis on WHBQ over the air on 560AM and over the Internet on Yahoo! Broadcast on Saturday morning from 8-10 CT.
I'm sure this happened to you. You hold four cards to a royal. You draw, but you don't complete the royal. Then the first card the machine gives you on your next hand is the card you needed for the royal.
Or maybe you hold three of a kind. You draw, but you don't improve your three of a kind. Then one of the cards in your next hand is the card you needed to complete the quad.
Each hand of video poker is an independent event. The hand you're playing now is not affected by the hand you played before, nor will it affect the next hand you play. There's no sense getting upset over a tardy card. The program in the machine isn't trying to bait or frustrate you. Just move on to the next hand, hold the proper cards, and hope for the best.
I know someone who once got so upset over a card that came out one hand too late, he hit the glass on the machine with a little too much force, broke it, and decided to quickly leave the casino to avoid having to explain what he did.
Don't be like this fellow. Casino gambling is supposed to be fun. The more you play, the more frustrating things will happen. But there's always the possibility of a royal on your next hand.
