Will a Good Night's Sleep Help Me Win on a Slot Machine?

9 June 2008

By John Robison

Dear Sir,

Do you think having a very good sleep, feeling energetic, calm, no stress, no hurry, will help me win money on a slot machine and not lose all my money?

Thanks,
Sail

Dear Sail,

Getting a good night's sleep and being calm won't affect your results on the machines. The machines can't tell if you're well-rested and happy or tired and grumpy.

Being well-rested will, however, make it easier for you to deal with the downs of slot play. You'll be less likely to go on tilt if you have a losing streak. You'll also enjoy your winning streaks more. Finally, being awake and on your game will enable you to stick to your gambling game plan, if you make one.

In short, getting a good night's sleep won't help you win money on a slot machine, but it just might help you to not lose all your money.

Best of luck in and out of the casinos,
John
